Har Ghar Tiranga: Majority believe campaign has helped Kashmir to emotionally integrate with rest of the country
As the accompanying chart shows, Indians across age, gender, educational, income, religious and ethnic backgrounds felt that the campaign has increased the connection of the valley to the rest of the country. 80 percent youth and 77 percent senior citizens supported the idea. The same was seen among people with different education and income groups as well. A whopping 86 percent of NDA supporters backed the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative as against to 73 percent UPA supporters.
We saw similar in ethnic groups. While 83 percent of the Upper Caste Hindus were in support of the campaign, a whopping 65 percent Muslims backed govt on this issue. Although, the support among Christians was a mere 28 percent.
Clearly, the data suggests that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has helped Kashmir Valley in emotionally integrating with the rest of the country. A few years back, hosting the tricolour in Kashmir invited law and order problems. But now, the realities have changed. The Har Ghar Tiranga defines unity in diversity of India in true sense – from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
