As 2021 segues into 2022, a look at key numerics that defined India this year

About 2.5 lakh Indians officially died during the devastating second wave of Covid-19 in 2021. But the CVoter Covid tracker and municipality records indicate the actual number of dead were multiple times the official numbers. Will we ever get to know the true numbers?

Like all years, this year, too, had its days numbered. As it finally segues away tonight, here are some key CVoter  numerics that stood out to define India 2021:

In West Bengal, 54% voters wanted Mamata Banerjee to remain chief minister, thereby resulting in 213 seats won by the Trinamool Congress in the assembly elections, handing a humiliating defeat to the BJP. This not only shows that Didi is rani on her home turf, but also that strong regional leaders can stand up to and defeat the Narendra Modi-led BJP, at least in state polls. Zero seats were shared by the Congress and once-mighty Left Front.
