PMO declares assets of ministers: Modi's assets up by 26 lakh, donates share in only property owned

According to his most recent declaration of assets on the website of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the value of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's movable assets increased by Rs 26.13 lakh between 2021 and 2022, and he no longer owns any immovable property after donating his share of a residential plot in Gujarat.

The declaration reveals that Modi's moveable assets increased from Rs 1, 97, 68,885 at the end of March 2021 to Rs 2, 23, 82,504, with information provided up to March 31, 2022. A fixed deposit, bank balance, National Savings Certificates, life insurance policies, bank balance, jewellery, and cash on hand are examples of this. A study of movable assets listed by the PM shows the amount of cash in hand has come down from Rs 36,900 last year to Rs 35,250. His bank balance has also dipped to Rs 46,555 from Rs 1, 52,480 as on March 31, 2021. The PM has mentioned “NIL” in the column for immovable assets." Immovable property Survey No. 401/A was jointly held with three other joint owners, each having an equal share of 25%, and is no longer owned by the self as the same has been donated, according to a remark under the list. This means that till last year, Narendra Modi was the owner of the above mentioned property along with three others with equal share (25%) in the property, but in the recent declaration, PM has clarified that he is no longer in possession of that property as he had donated his share.

Along with the Prime Minister, the PMO has also declared the assets of few other cabinet ministers. Of 30 Cabinet ministers, asset details of eight ministers are available, and of 45 MOS, details for two are listed where as the property details of two MOS (Independent Charge) are not available. Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, saw an increase in the value of his movable assets from Rs 2.24 to Rs 2.54 crore; Dharmendra Pradhan, the minister of education, saw an increase in his net worth from Rs 1.62 to Rs 1.83 crore; Parshottam Rupala, the minister of animal husbandry, reported a net worth of Rs 7.29 crore, up Rs 1.42 crore from the previous year; and Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation reported his total assets at 35.63 crore and liabilities of Rs 58 lakh.
