53% of NDA supporting respondents said that they personally support Israel way above the national average of 36.7%. Only 10.6% of the NDA supporters favoured Iran and 23% supported neither.
A large chunk of Indians who support the Narendra Modi led NDA government, personally support Israel in the ongoing - Iran-Israel conflict, reveals the latest CVoter foundation’s snap poll conducted last week.
According to the survey, conducted over 1,217 adults over a Computer Assisted Telephonic Interview (CATI) - nearly 53% of NDA supporting respondents said that they personally support Israel way above the national average of 36.7%. Only 10.6% of the NDA supporters favoured Iran and 23% supported neither.
Contrast this to the opposition and other regional party voters - the support to either of these countries is mixed. Of those who voted for the opposition alliance in the last held election, nearly 38% said they personally support Iran, another 23% supported Israel and about 28% supported neither of them.
Though a large share of NDA supporters - about 49% - want India to remain neutral in this situation, about 39% want India to support Israel diplomatically. About 30% opposition voters want India to support Israel against the 45% who wish for neutrality. Nearly 58% of other parties supporters wish for neutrality - the highest among the groups CVoter analysed
On a country wide level, about 28% Indians want India to support Israel diplomatically, about 19% wish for such support to Iran and nearly half - 49.2% want India to remain neutral and call for peace.
