Born in a middle-class family in Nadia, West Bengal, Julan took up playing cricket at the age of 15. She made her international debut in 2002, and since then, has been India's safety net. Be it breaking a dangerous looking partnership, arresting the flow of runs, taking wickets or taking difficult questions after a disappointing loss, Julan Goswami had answers for all. Goswami was part of two 50-over World Cup finals - in 2005 and then in 2017, when India lost by a mere nine runs. For almost two decades, she was an integral part of all ups and downs of women cricket.
The legendary Indian fast bowler has represented the country in 12 Tests, 68 T20I and 203 ODIs. She has a total of 356 wickets to her fame - 44 wickets in Tests, 253 wickets in Women's ODI and 56 wickets in Women's T20I. She is also the youngest to take a 10-wicket haul in test cricket. She continued to display shades of brilliance throughout her year. She scripted history by becoming the first Indian player to win the ICC Women's Cricketer of the year in 2007.
