Once upon a time, the definition of mobile was equal to Nokia. Then Samsung beat Nokia and became the market leader. After many years, a new player, Xiaomi, jumped into the battle field to dethrone the king and became the market leader in Q4 2017.
From Q4 2017 to Q1 2022, Xiaomi is the unbeatable champion.
The date Q4 2017 was the date when it was confirmed that Indian smartphone history was going to be rewritten and the future would be written with the smart-pen of Xiaomi. Once upon a time, the definition of mobile was equal to Nokia. Then Samsung beat Nokia and became the market leader.
After many years, a new player, Xiaomi, jumped into the battle field to dethrone the king and became the market leader in Q4 2017. User-friendly and pocket-friendly smartphones and a good sense of consumer behavior. Xiaomi made strong tea with the right ingredients and became a market leader within 3 years of its Indian debut.

After the quarter 4 (2017), Xiaomi never looked back. Xiaomi outperformed Samsung on next every quarter and continues to be the unrivalled market leader to this day. Xiaomi gave top selling smartphone in every year also India’s best selling smartphone series (Redmi Note Series) gave by Xiaomi.
In the year 2018, Xiaomi led the market with decent market share in Q1-31%, Q2-28%, Q3-27% and Q4-27%. On the other hand Samsung was on the second place with market share of Q1-26%, Q2-28%, Q3-23% and Q4-20%.

If we look at the data for 4 years, then we see a balanced performance of Xiaomi as compared to the rest of the companies. The market share of Xiaomi’s main rival, Samsung also gradually declined.

By the year 2022, things have changed. Everything has now become smart. That is why the competition among the companies making smartphones has become thorny. Even in this neck-and-neck competition, Xiaomi has retained the first position in the first quarter of 2022 as well, achieving a growth of 2% over the previous quarter. Due to this quality of achieving growth in such competition, Xiaomi has been leading the market undefeated for the last 4 years.
