According to the government data, the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.61%, and the active cases make up 0.20 percent of all infections.
After a surge in COVID-19 cases in the past months, the number of active cases has been declining. As of August 26, the number of active cases stood at 90,707. A total of 10,256 cases and 68 deaths were reported. The total number of cases in the country stood at 4.43 crores, while a total of 5.27 lakh people have lost their lives due to the pandemic.
According to the government data, the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.61%, and the active cases make up 0.20 percent of all infections. In the last 24 hours, there has been a decrease of 3,340 cases in the active COVID-19 caseload. The weekly positivity rate was 3.02 percent, while the daily positivity rate was 2.43 percent. 4.22 lakh covid tests were performed in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests to 88.43 crore tests so far.
If we take a deep look at the data, the decline in the cases of infection continues steadily. The active case load was 1,17,508 on August 14th, which has now come down to 90,707. With a recovery rate of approximately 98%, India has largely survived the rapid spread of the infection. In the last 24 hours, Although, the daily infection rate remains at around 2.43%, it has come down significantly compared to July.
Although states like Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu which were the worst affected ones in the three previous COVID-19 waves have highest number of active cases. Maharashtra has a highest active caseload of 12,269 while Haryana is at the 10th position with active case load of 2,737.
According to the latest numbers, Maharashtra has the highest number of coronavirus cases at 80.91 lakhs since the beginning of the pandemic. 79.30 lakh people have been recovered and 1.48 lakh people have died. Kerala and Karnataka are next with 67.48 lakh and 40.46 lakh total COVID-19 cases respectively. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu have the lowest number of cases with 10.5k, 11.4k and 11.5k respectively.
Across the world, there have been a total of 59.93 crore confirmed coronavirus cases, according to the latest update. This includes 54.91 crore people who are being treated, 4.37 crore who have recovered and 64.81 lakh who have died.
The highest number of coronavirus cases currently is in US which has registered 9.40 crore confirmed COVID-19 cases. 10.43 lakh people have died of coronavirus in the country. India and France are next in line with 4.43 crore and 3.46 crore confirmed coronavirus cases and 5.27 lakh and 1.54 lakh deaths respectively.
