In a letter to Delhi, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan warned that approaching festivals and large gatherings could potentially worsen the spread of the virus.According to the government's daily health bulletin, Delhi has been experiencing an increase in daily Covid-19 cases, with the city reporting 2,419 cases and a positive rate of 12.9% on Friday. Later on Tuesday, as per the data shared by the health department, Delhi has reported 2,495 new corona virus cases with a positivity rate of 15.41 per cent and seven fatalities. The national capital saw 1,372 infections and six deaths as the case positivity rate rose to 17.85 per cent, the highest since January 21. In addition to this, the city has reported a few cases of the BA.4 and the BA.5 sub-variants of Omicron that are highly transmissible. Currently, there are 253 containments zones in the city and of the 9,409 beds reserved for COVID-19 patients in various Delhi hospitals, 534 are occupied. As a response to the rising covid cases in the city, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that there was no need to panic as most new Covid-19 cases were mild in nature.
As the cases in Delhi continue to rise day by day, TEAM CVOTER-INDIA TRACKER which has conducted surveys on different subjects of national importance in the past has recently conducted a survey on the spread of corona virus in Delhi. People belonging to different social backgrounds, gender, age groups, location and voting opinions were asked on “For Several days, more than 2000 cases of corona have been continuously reported in Delhi. Do you think corona is spreading fast once again?” people belonging to different backgrounds registered contrasting opinions. The chart below shows the number of people in favor and against the question posed.

Majority of the people (56%) replied with a 'No' and stated that the corona is not spreading rapidly in Delhi. Among the sections of the society, the Sikhs strongly responded with a ‘No’ as they voiced their opinion that the corona is not spreading fast in Delhi. The other ones to strongly register a ‘No’ were the OBCs with 64.8%.

There were diverse opinions among different ethnic groups, gender, age groups and locations but majority of them feel that the corona is not once again spreading rapidly in Delhi. Among all the Sikhs is the largest social group which very strongly with 74.9% of them which replied with a ‘No’ to the question posed. Out of OBCs, only 35.2% feel that the corona is once again spreading its tentacles rapidly but the majority of them i.e. 64.8% feel the opposite. Taking into consideration, one of the most important age groups, 18-24 (Youth), there was a wafer thin difference among their opinions as 49.5% of them feel that there has again been the rapid spread of the virus and the remaining 50.5% feel the opposite. The Senior citizens (Age group above 55 years) which is one of the most vulnerable sections of the society to the covid-19 also feel that the corona is not spreading rapidly in Delhi.
The result of the survey clearly shows that majority (56%) of the people belonging to different age groups, gender, ethnicities and locations feel that there is no rapid spread of corona once again in Delhi.
